Bring a touch of spooky charm to your sewing skills! In this fun and creative class, you’ll learn how to make a quilted statement hat inspired by cottagecore style, woodland wanderers, and Renaissance faire fashion.  We’ll cover techniques for cutting, piecing, quilting, and assembling your hat so it’s sturdy and stylish. You’ll also learn tips for shaping and finishing so your hat stands tall.

Ages 14 and up are welcome. By the end of class, you’ll go home with your very own magical, quilted witch hat – no spells required!

Prior sewing experience is required for this class, you must know how to operate a sewing machine but no prior quilting experience is required. If you don't have any prior sewing experience, please take our Machine 101 class. 

Materials are not included in the cost of this class, all materials and tools can be purchased during or prior to class at a 20% discount.

Materials Needed:

Please note this hat can be made out of solid fabric or patchwork. If you are doing the patchwork option, you must buy pre-cut fabric or cut your fabric before attending class. 

• 1yd main fabric OR 1 5" square pack OR 20 2.5" strips
• 1yd lining fabric
• 1.5 yds of foam stabilizer (Flex Foam/Soft & Stable/In-R-Form etc) OR 0.75yds of batting
• 0.75yds Heavyweight Fusible Interfacing
• 3yds Bias Tape 
• 505 or other basting spray
• Coordinating Thread
• Universal 90/14 Needles

Tools needed:

• Rotary Cutter (45mm)
• Scissors
• Seamripper
• Pins
• Clips 
• Clear ruler with 1/8" markings (we reccomend a 3"x24" or 6x24" rectangle)
• Heat or Water Erasable Pen 
• 1/4" foot for your machine
• Walking foot for your machine

You can bring your own machine or use one of our machines for this class.

ALL COURSE FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. Please make sure that you are certain of your availability prior to registering/processing payment. If your schedule changes and you notify us by email at least 7 days in advance, we can offer you a credit to be used towards a future class. If we need to cancel a class for any reason, your class fee will be fully refunded in this case only.
