Learn to Sew - Wovens (Chatham)



Ready to start sewing your own clothes? This 6-week course is perfect for beginners who are ready to take the next step into garment sewing!

In this class, you'll learn the fundamentals of sewing clothing using modern, beginner-friendly patterns from indie pattern companies. Over the course of six weekly sessions, you'll complete two wearable garments and one fun accessory project

Projects include:

  • Gypsum Skirt by Sew Liberated – a breezy, pocketed skirt with an elastic waistband

  • Pomona Pants by Anna Allen – wide or tapered leg pants with an elastic waist

  • Zippered Pouch – a fully lined makeup bag 

You’ll gain hands-on experience with pattern reading, fabric cutting, pocket construction, elastic waistbands, hemming, and basic zipper sewing — all in a supportive, encouraging environment.

There are no alterations offered for the projects made in this class, however we do have alternate projects available in straight fit (men's) sizing. 

Pre-requisites

Completion of Machine 101, must be comfortable threading a machine on your own, capable of changing stitches and settings, comfortable with basic terms like backstitch and seam allowance.

Knowledge of operating a machine is required, if you have never used a machine before you must start complete our Machine 101 class prior to this class.

Supplies

Sewing machines are provided for this class. Materials and tools are not included in the cost of this class. 

A list of all the materials and tools needed can be found in the class syllabus. Please note that fabric for the first project must be purchased BEFORE the start of the first class. There is a 20% discount on all materials purchased for classes.

If you need to purchase sewing tools, you can purchase our Beginner Sewing Kit or buy tools individually during your first class

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY

ALL COURSE FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. Please make sure that you are certain of your availability prior to registering/processing payment. If your schedule changes and you notify us by email at least 7 days in advance, we offer you a credit to be used towards a future class. If we need to cancel a class for any reason, your class fee will be fully refunded in this case only.
